If you are seeing this post, I am probably in New Zealand. Small chance that the little gnome that puts grammatical errors in my substack (he lives in my laptop) posted it preemptively.
Halt. I am posting preemptively, ‘I’ being Benjah and not the little gnome that puts grammatical errors in my substack. This was not scripted.
Disaster has struck. In fact, disaster has struck many times. The travel-gods have stricken us to pieces. I literally could have driven from Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh faster than it has taken me with VietJet. If I had a guitar with me I would pour my heart and soul into some Viet Visa Blues. Perhaps in a future episode.
I’m staying in a nice hotel for now. I am very disappointed in the Vietnamese immigration but I’ll hold off on the roasts until I’m out of Ho Chi Minh. Tomorrow night I’ll fly to ‘straya and all will be well.
Another update. I will not be leaving to ‘straya for now, and all is not well. Trouble trouble. The Viet Visa Blues are gonna be a whole album by the time we get there, which will be Monday. We’ll make the best of Ho Chi Minh while we’re here though.
I was expecting to find some comfort from home here because they drive on the right side of the road here, but alas. The roads here function like an 8-player smash bros game and it’s hard to tell right from reft. Left.
Spot the difference:
I also thought I lost 4 pair of underpants, so I compensated with a little splurge at the Uniqlo. Upon arriving back in our room, the missing underpants magically reappeared between my belongings. I now have many underpants. Very nice.
Tomorrow we are relocating from our airport hotel to a place closer to the city center to see some tourist hot spots and maybe meet some people who are willing to listen to our visa blues.
In short, Vietnam has taken a week of my life and a small fortune too. We’ll make the most of it.
Yours truly,
The fourth and final mistake.
I am "au courant" about the Vietbulations you two are going through, but u will survive and make the most of it (don't forget to eat loempia's). great video clip by the way, almost unreal how that traffic potpourri does not lead to constant accidents. Take care and have fun, regardless of the ill-tempered gods.
Sorry to hear buckarooski. Glad that the unfortunate developments have not spoiled your creativity and spirit
